After School Academic Program

These opportunities are available from September to June.

These opportunities are suitable for: college students, community members/parents, professionals, retired individuals, or high school students (at least 16 years of age).

Limited or One-Time Opportunities

  • Educational Mentors are needed Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Mentors are paired with 1-3 individual children in a classroom environment. Individuals looking to gain experience in the area of education or human service fields are highly encouraged. Please note that this service opportunity requires a minimum 3 month, once per week commitment.

  • Tutors are needed Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Individuals with strong math and English skills, and individuals who are bilingual (Spanish) are highly encouraged. This opportunity is suitable for individuals who need to complete 10-12 service learning hours.

  • Recreational Leaders are needed Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Athletes or individuals with experience in coaching sports are needed to help coordinate and lead physical activities for 2nd to 5th grade students at local city parks. A variety of sports equipment is available for use. This opportunity is suitable for individuals who need to complete 10-12 service learning hours.

In addition, we welcome Guest Speakers willing to present 1-2 hour workshops on a variety of topics that are in alignment with our curriculum. This service opportunity is flexible within our regular program hours and can be in the form of a one-time commitment. Advance scheduling is required. This opportunity is only for individuals with expertise in their topic area. Nonprofit organizations or government agencies are welcome to inquire about the possibility of conducting a workshop.

Summer of Learning Program

These opportunities are available from late June to early August.

These opportunities are suitable for: college students, community members/parents, professionals, retired individuals, or high school students (at least 16 years of age).

  • Educational Mentors are needed Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Individuals with strong English skills, who are artistic (i.e. drawing, painting, or sculpting), or who are bilingual (Spanish) are highly encouraged. Prior experience working in a classroom environment is preferred, but not required.

  • Recreational Leaders are needed Mondays through Thursday from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Athletes or individuals with experience in coaching sports are needed to coordinate and lead physical activities for 2nd to 5th grade students. A variety of sports equipment is available for use.

  • Nutrition Leaders are needed Mondays through Thursday from 8:30am to 10:00am (breakfast), and/or from 11am to 1pm (lunch). Individuals interested in cooking or preparing meals and coordinating nutritious snacks for children are highly encouraged. A variety, yet limited, supply of foods and refreshments are available for distribution to children enrolled in our program.

Please note that the above service opportunities for the Summer of Learning Program require a minimum 6-week commitment, two days per week.

In addition, we are looking for a Swimming Coach. This would provide a wonderful opportunity for children to learn how to swim, especially since our facility is within walking distance from a community swimming pool. Individuals with strong swimming skills and CPR or life guard training are highly encouraged. This service opportunity is flexible within our regular program hours and does not require a lengthy commitment.
